Tips to Teaching Kids on How to Dress Themselves
Trying to get kids to undress themselves is never a problem unless they consider putting on a new costume of which they love and refuse in taking off. However for children to be able to know in putting clothes on is a different story.
Independent Dressing Promotes Development
An average age with where kids shows an initiative is when they reach 2 -3 years of age, but some children in fact still don’t know how to put their clothes on until they are able to reach the age of 5 or 6. Due to having a connection on other developmental factors, the earlier you are going to teach your child on choosing their outfits, the better it actually is for the two of you.
Keep their Clothes Simple for Them
One way on how you could jumpstart the road of your child towards independence would be to give them the right tools on how they could become independent. You can actually start by providing them with easy-to-wear clothes.
This means you need to give them with clothes that are not too complicated to put on. Sweaters and t-shirts should be put through slipping it over the head and not the ones where you need to button them up. In choosing shoes, choose the ones that have snap buttons because it makes it easier to wear.
Provide them with an Organized Closet
It is simply not enough to give them with the right set of clothes, you also need to consider the importance of how their closet is organized. With a lot of things which parents do in a week, keeping clothes organized is in fact the last thing which parents have in their mind. However, it is essential for children to be able to see and reach their IKKS kids clothes when you would want to encourage them self-dressing.
When they have a messy closet, you would have to sort it out first. You also need to make sure that everything will be accessible for them and to also label the drawers for them to know which clothes are the ones that are right to wear.
Making their Closet Creative
Like the rest of their room, it is essential that their closet is made personal for them as well. Consider painting the closet walls with the color they like or you should do something fun like replacing the drawer knobs with appealing designs. This will help to motivate your kids.
It is essential that you must not force your kids in dressing themselves when they are still not ready. Make sure that you also let them have the freedom to choose what they really want and also approach them if they will require help.
